On June 27th, 2019 Marc Goergen and Sven introduced a law proposal to forbid political parties to have access to the names, birthday, nationalities and addresses of registered voters.
In the past this data has been used by parties but also abused in certain circumstances. In order to better protect the privacy of ordinary citizens, even at the expense of a more complicated election campaign the law proposal 7453 would increase privacy for everybody!
The text has been accepted on July 9th, 2019, and sent to the Committee of Institutions and Constitutional Reform.
Since then nothing has happened. Obviously the established parties don’t want to better protect the privacy of every citizen.
