During the annual session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and more precisely during the meeting of the Science and Technology Committee I was honoured to be elected as one of the vice-chairpersons on the Sub-Committee on Technology Trends and Security.
Given my background as an engineer in Information Systems, I want to focus more on the effects of digitalization and new threat vectors that emerge and might not always be attributable. In addition to that more general idea, I also want to make sure that new technologies won’t be abused against citizens and/or democratic institutions, something we’ve seen far too often in the past.
NATO PA needs to stand up to election meddling, fake news and disinformation campaigns in every setting because InfoOps are part of military doctrine and we can’t ignore those threats.
