Medical cannabis supply and shortages

Since the 2019 launch of state-supplied medical cannabis, patients have faced repeated stock-outs of flowers and oils. Tenders drew single bidders, supplier contracts changed, and patients were redirected to other products.

Outcome so far

Supplier re-tendered (Canopy Growth 2021, Schroll Medical 2023); oils restricted by circular of 24 Oct 2022; no structural end to shortages (QP 3518 answer).

Status

Ongoing; shortages reported again in Feb 2026.

What I'm asking next

Ask for publication of the 2022 evaluation report (promised in QP 6171) and the penalties applied to the supplier.
